Game of Code, the 36H hackathon, made in Luxembourg, is back for its 7th edition next June 28-29-30th, 2022. Organised by Farvest, the coding competition will - for the second year in a row- welcome worldwide developers willing to challenge themselves. This year participants will be able to code for the good cause as the competition partners up with Médecins Sans Frontières.
Game of Code pursues its worldwide talent hunt for a new world cup edition where coders will be able to take up a cybersecurity challenge -among others- thanks to the participation of SECURITYMADEIN.LU as a challenger. The hackathon is calling for the best developers, all around the globe, and the application is now open online. Alone or, with a team of up to 4 people, the competition creates the opportunity for coders to join a vibrant hackathon where the limits are unlimited.
Last year, due to the pandemic, the competition was digitised and went international. This provided the competition with a friendly-user online environment and a digital communication platform to continue to offer participants from all around the world a seamless and extraordinary experience, even remotely. For its last edition, Game of Code saw the participation of coders coming from 10 countries from Ethiopia to Italy and even from the Philippines.
“Game of Code is the most strategic Luxembourg-based event for the developers’ community. There is a terrible shortage of talents in this field and while the competition aims to promote the greatest experts of the country, this hackathon is an opportunity to challenge them and to face other countries’ contestants to advance industry knowledge and show off the great creativity of the different teams. It’s the meeting of the brightest minds but also a mix of different cultures with solutions-driven competitors ready to take up the challenges offered by the event partners. It targets B2B companies but also welcomes teams from dedicated tech-schools.” explains Charlotte Boutelier, Managing Director, Farvest.
CODE FOR THE GOOD CAUSE
For this new edition, Game of Code joins forces with Médecins Sans Frontières and each team registered will contribute to Médecins Sans Frontières Fonds D’urgence programme. “In this edition of Game of Code, Farvest partners up for a new challenge to take up in this worldwide hackathon: to collect a maximum of donations for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Luxembourg and bring hope to thousands of patients. Frequently associated with events in the digital field in Luxembourg, MSF provides medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare in more than 80 countries worldwide.
In 2022, Farvest has chosen to support those most in need not only in Ukraine, but also and in all conflict zones throughout the world. 95% funded by private donors, MSF ensures its operational independence and flexibility to respond at a moment's notice to the most urgent crises, including those which are under-reported or neglected. In Afghanistan, in Yemen, or in Bangladesh with the Rohingya, MSF is there to care for the victims of human absurdities.” state Cristina Fernandez, Chargée de Communication at Médecins Sans Frontières.
A COMPETITION INCLUDED WITHIN ICT SPRING
As a well-established event in the Luxembourg tech community and with the main purpose of highlighting talented coders worldwide, the organiser naturally chose to host Game of Code next June 28-29-30th in conjunction with the largest Luxembourg tech conference, ICT Spring, held next June 30th & July 1st at LuxExpo The Box. The final of the competition as well as the closing ceremony will therefore be held on June 30th. As the hackathon is international and will take place online, teams can decide to join the pitching sessions online or in-person. For those joining physically a free access to ICT Spring will be provided in order to favour the connection with high-level international decision-makers from the tech industry.
