"FinTech? An evolution rather than a revolution"

In Luxembourg, London, Berlin or in the Silicon Valley, FinTech has become, in just a few years, one of the hottest topics and has seen the birth of many start-ups. Last May, it was on the agenda for ICT Spring, and the organizers welcomed FinTech specialist Nasir Zubairi. The IT One and Warren teams met with him to discuss the new services technology brings to the table.

"With the FinTech and financial services, trust is a critical component in terms of the services delivered to customers" starts Nasir, who adds: "Trust is not something that can occur and be acquired overnight, it takes time". Therefore, the expert sees FinTech as an evolution, rather than a revolution. Concerning the next step, he states that the enhancement of user experience, which is already on the way, is the next big thing. "We are all so dependent on our mobile phones, and financial services need to keep using these tools and channels to better serve customers".

And concerning Luxembourg, he adds: "Luxembourg has a competitive advantage in the areas of fund administration, wealth management, fund distribution and regulation, and I think that focusing on innovation in these areas to become a global leader is probably the smartest strategy for this country".
